1. It’s A Sequel to Freaky Friday

This brand new film is a follow up to the 2003 classic, ‘Freaky Friday’, starring Lindsey Lohan as Anna and Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess, a daughter and mother who don’t see eye to eye until they are forced to swap bodies and experience the world through each other’s eyes!
2. It’s the 5th Freaky Friday Film

Did you know there have actually been four other Freaky Friday films? The very first one, from 1976, starring Jodie Foster, then a version in 1995, then the 2003 film, THEN an unrelated version in 2018, and finally this sequel! Phew!
3. It’s The First Time Lindsey Lohan and Jamie Curtis Have Worked Together For 22 Years!

That’s right, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsey Lohan haven’t worked together since the original film! Jamie Lee Curtis was determined to make the film happen, but she wanted to wait until Lindsey Lohan was old enough to play someone with a teenage daughter!
4. It Stars a Lot of the Original Cast

As well as Jamie and Lindsey reprising their roles, the film also stars Chad Michael Murray (Anna’s biker boyfriend from the first film) Rosalind Chao as Pei Pei, Stephen Tobolowsky as Mr Bates, Anna’s annoying teacher, and Mark Hamon as Ryan, Tess’s husband and Anna’s stepdad.
5. The Films Are Actually Based on a Book

‘Freaky Friday’ was originally a book, written in 1972 by Mary Rodgers, all about Annabel Andrews, who wakes up one day to find she is in the body of her mother, and must run the family. Interestingly, in the original book, Annabel’s mother doesn’t show up until the end, where it turns out she’s been in Annabel’s body the whole time!
6. It’s Got More Swaps than the First Movie

The 2003 film only had Anna and Tess swapping bodies. This time, Anna, Tess, Anna’s daughter Harper and her stepdaughter Lily all swap bodies instead!
7. Lindsey Lohan Wasn’t Always Going to Play Anna

In the 2003 film, Lindsey Lohan wasn’t the first choice for Anna. In fact, the part was going to go to Michelle Trachtenberg, another young Disney star. But sadly for Michelle, she couldn’t get out of filming Buffy the Vampire Slayer to be in the film, so the role went to Lindsey. It’s hard to imagine anyone else as Tess now!
8. Jamie and Lindsey Are Producers

Jamie Lee Curtis is an executive producer, and Lindsey Lohan is a producer on the film, meaning they will have some control over how the film turns out. Jamie Lee Curtis is really passionate about this project, so we know its in safe hands!
9. Jodie Foster Was Offered a Cameo

Jodie Foster, who played the original teen in the 1976 Freaky Friday, was initially offered the role as Tess in the 2003 movie. She turned it down as she felt like it was just stunt-casting. She was offered a cameo role in this film too, but sadly she already had other filming commitments.
10. It’s Set and Filmed in LA

Like the 2003 film, the sequel is set and filmed in LA, California. The original restaurant scene is set in LA’s famous Chinatown, and Freakier Friday has lots of shots of the famous city. Will you spot any landmarks?
11. There is Also a Freaky Friday Musical

Yes, it’s true! There is actually a musical based on the Freaky Friday franchise called (and you won’t believe this) Freaky Friday! It was written in 2016, and it’s going to be making its UK theatre debut in December 2025! We can’t wait!
12. This Time its a Fortune Teller, Not A Fortune Cookie, That Starts the Curse

In the original 2003 film, Tess and Anna are tricked into snapping fortune cookings by Pei Pei’s mum, who sees how much they argue. This time, Tess and Anna end up at a fortune teller, who tells them that swapping bodies might be a good idea again. Needless to say, they’re not into it!
13. It’s Lindsey Lohan’s First Theatrical Release in 18 Years

After a long hiatus from acting, Lindsey Lohan (who’s most famous for roles like Mean Girls and The Parent Trap) will be returning to cinema screens for the first time in 18 years! She’s already done some Netflix rom coms like Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish, but this is her first time back on the silver screen!
14. Lindsey Lohan Had to teach Jamie Lee Curtis How to Say ‘Shut Up!’

According to Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsey Lohan had to teach her how to say ‘Shut up!’ as a convincing teenager in the 2003 film. She was getting in wrong so Lindsey had to give her lessons! We can’t wait to see what she does with her role as a teenager this time!
